Halifax Mk V DG286 took off on training flight from Tempsford and crashed on take off following a tyre bursting and undercarriage collapse. All crew survived.

Flying Officer Nigel Leslie St. George Pleasance was killed on Wednesday 19th July 1944 age 25, whilst on OPERATION SHIPWRIGHT 9 from Tempsford, recorded on the Tempsford Special Duties page as Halifax Mk V, LL387, NF-P, 138 Sqdn RAF and "Aircraft lost on Allied Force’s Special Duty Operations & Associated Roll of Honour" Page 290.. He was the son of Samuel Thomas Leslie and Gladys Evelyn Pleasance; the husband of Margaret Constance Pleasance (nee Thurlow). He is commemorated on RUNNYMEDE MEMORIAL, Surrey. Panel 208.
